Was the ultimate point of that kabuki to generate sympathy for Joe, and when they saw NO ONE CARED AT ALL, they tossed it and went, "Well, that's that!" :P

So many “stories” about the ankle boot. I think my favorite so far is the one saying the boot is a mark of “The Wayfarer”. Some high status ritual mark regarding a satanic being.
