Forgot to mention that the politicians are working on a way to getting around it. We only have emergency legislation for war, not for this type of situation. That is were they will do it. Introduce something temporary that never goes away, kind of like our VAT law...
The person I talked to you didn't seem to think they would succeed. Hope they don't.
But yes, anytime the government tells us something is temporary know they are lying. Ten years ago my city introduced a temporary one penny tax. They promised it would go away. I said it wouldn't and you can guess who was lying.
Well the swamp is pretty deep here. The political elites doesn't give a shit about the people. The people love the state. And the media/deranged culture has made any form of unity under principles impossible. Pretty sad for a nation with such a rich history and culture.
I am a CAN/SWE dual. Lived in SWE for 10 of the last 14 years. (AMA) It is true that the constitution doesn't 'allow it', but there is latitude in emergency measures, etc.
Sweden fucked up the initial containment of old peoples homes full stop. Since then, essentially nobody has died.
In Sweden, the constitution prohibits political interference in the 'agencies'. That said, the 'agencies' have no authority to command. Consensus culture in a nation with long tradition of that. When the health agency says, 'take it careful', Swedes respond. And in turn, the agency has always recognized that they have no authority over day to day life. It is simply 'Do your best on these points.' And Swedes do. Bars and schools never closed. People work remotely and try not to crowd, because that is the 'best reasonable things they can do'.
The population is (on average) significantly in better shape (no diabetes, very little obesity, etc.) and is just coming out of a summer with way more light than the US (Vitamin D, etc.). May have some part in it.

Good to know. Hope to meet a Swede soon.
