I read it in my head in the actors voices and laughed even harder. Anakin was just mumbling.

I think they don't even clap anymore, because it is "triggering". Now they snap their fingers, or something stupid.

Jazz hands, but I think they also stopped that because it's offensive to people with no hands.

when is the last time you laughed at a joke that took over 10-20 seconds to tell?

Whenever Norm McDonald launches into an incredibly dragged out shaggy dog story.

I know, apples and oranges. Your point stands when it come to what the terrible lefty memes are attempting.

Jim Jeffries is huge hypocritical piece of shit. Like a lotta comics made their bones being offensive and once they make it they turn around and say "Hay guise no more offensive jokes ok? Words hurt." Plus there was that video he took saying all this anti-PC shit to an Israeli to make him look like a racist then conveniently edited out all the stuff he said. Only reason people knew about it was the guy secretly recorded the whole thing.

No problem man. I thought Jim Jeffries was hysterical, absolutely loved his work cuz he actually told it like it was. Its why it was so disappointed when he turned soy.

The pinnacle of left-wing meaningless political science hogwash meme-posting was a while back when they were trying to claim Gritty, the Flyers mascot for their "around their asses to get to their elbows 'yOu'Ll Be FiRsT aGaInSt ThE wAlL, lAnDlOrD'" shitty meme posting. In response to some of that, I responded to that with some mockery with a Gritty picture half obscured by about 1,000 words of some commie dingbat screed. Got a bunch of hurt responses similar to those coping r/iamsosmart tweets that JwPATX linked.

96
telepathic_pepe 96 points ago +96 / -0

That makes them better than the Disney Star Wars trilogy, which were both terrible and entirely forgettable

36

True, but this one is pretty good: https://i.imgflip.com/3jhevp.jpg

25
thewashambro 25 points ago +25 / -0

I think the Prequels are enjoyable to watch despite the bad CGI or dialogue. If you can watch for the story and think of it as a documentary rather than a blockbuster fantasy movie you're fine. I am anyways.

23
DrCowboyPresident 23 points ago +23 / -0

I think some of the crap they get is a bit unwarranted. Anakin is supposed to be a cringy maladjusted dweeb. That was his entire weakness that was exploited.

16
Brobold 16 points ago +16 / -0

I think they didn't have enough space to fit everything Lucas wanted.

The Anakin thing also makes sense. He was an outcast and the Jedi treated him like it. Palpatine treated him like a friend.

13
DefaultFreedom 13 points ago +13 / -0

And the music is perfect! John Williams did a fantastic job.

6
MAGA_Flocka_Flame 6 points ago +6 / -0

Duel of Fates alone makes the prequels worth it!

9
deleted 9 points ago +12 / -3
6
thewashambro 6 points ago +7 / -1

Like I said, they're not cinematic masterpieces. They're to give a story as to how the OT universe came to be. If you view it as an enacted explanation rather than a story, it is more enjoyable to watch. I didn't think the ending was forced but there definitely should have been a little more substance to Anakin's turn. My two cents anyways.

aaafirefly123 4 points ago +4 / -0

I thought that Episode 3 was, minus a few scenes [and by few I mean way fewer than the previous two films] of bad dialogue, legitimately good.

Episodes 1 & 2 are way more entertaining than 7, 8, 9.

In my honest opinion, Disney jumped the shark with Star Killer Base.

To me it made no sense, how the hell did the First Order, which up to that point had been a small (compared to the New Republic) insurgency able to amass enough resources to build that monstrosity when it took Sidious having access to the resources of the entire Galaxy to build the Death Star.

And on top of that how the hell did they build it with no one noticing.

1
NeoDragoon 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's also worth mentioning, since you can see each of the MIRV beams (completely ignoring that there is now a MIRV LAZOR) and the leaching of the star all from the same planet, that Starkiller Base and the targets are all in the same system. So how in the nine Hells did they build this thing in the capital system of the New Republic?

1
aaafirefly123 1 point ago +1 / -0

Because Plot. That’s it really.

This is partly why Episodes 7, 8, and 9 are awful films. Even if we ignore the political overtones, the films are still bad.

The story is nonsensical (especially episode 8) and the characters were either miss used and/or thrown away. On top of that the music was so forgettable. Say what you want about the prequels but they had some of the best music in Star Wars history (Duel of the Fates + Droid Army March to name a couple). With the sequels I can’t even remember the name of ONE track that stuck out to me. Idk why the music is as bad as it is, John Williams is composing (maybe he’s just getting old).

I will say that the acting is better than the prequels (lord knows these people are legitimately giving it their all). But I will take a good story with bad acting (prequels) over a bad story with good acting.

That being said, Disney hasn’t been ALL bad.

Rogue One was a legitimately good Star Wars movie (could have been better but was still good) and they did an amazing job with the Mandalore.

13
AlcoholicRetard 13 points ago +14 / -1

Rogue One was decent.

MAGA_Flocka_Flame 5 points ago +5 / -0

1
aaafirefly123 1 point ago +1 / -0

I like Rogue One, but the sequel trilogy (looking back) lost me when they jumped the shark with Star Killer Base.

1
NeoDragoon 1 point ago +1 / -0

Only because it was a one way mission.

9
Wrexxis780 9 points ago +9 / -0

Compared to the Disney ones, the prequel ones were huge hits.

2
HowardRoark 2 points ago +2 / -0

wtf I love Jar Jar now

6
Wrexxis780 6 points ago +6 / -0

I would rather watch Jar Jar for 12 hours than watch the Disney trilogy again as they just kill nearly all of the original cast (Han, Leia, Luke, C3P0, almost Chewbacca) and replace them with their woke little diversity kids. Plus the Disney trilogy was super predictable.

3
Tseliteiv 3 points ago +4 / -1

Yeah, I tried rewatching them and got bored of the first one. What a shame.

36
Captain_MAGA 36 points ago +37 / -1

The execution may have been terrible, but atleast it was made with love, unlike the Disney trilogy. The story of the prequel trilogy is actually really deep, just needed someone other than Lucas as director, but leave Lucas as executive producer.

19
AmericanJawa 19 points ago +20 / -1

From what I've heard, Lucas originally wanted other people to make the actual movies, but everyone he talked to said "No, George, you should make them".

There's also the worldbuilding - whatever people might think of the movies themselves, there's a lot of love for the Prequels and Clone Wars era as a setting.

8
DrCowboyPresident 8 points ago +9 / -1

The Revenge of the Sith novel is actually fantastic.

6
Pedeville 6 points ago +6 / -0

When I watched the third star wars movie I thought it was awesome. Fnally I could see laser swords being filmed on something else than a potato

5
DonnaChang 5 points ago +6 / -1

I agree. Beyond the additional context, it added emotional depth by elaborating/emphasizing the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan, making Anakin's fall more heartbreaking.

2
DrCowboyPresident 2 points ago +2 / -0

And the Palpatine fight is about 1 million times better, and that's probably not high enough

It's hard to see the full depth of the terror and power of that guy without reading that chapter

12
no_further 12 points ago +12 / -0

I re-wrote the third film of the sequel trilogy in 20 minutes and came up with a damn good plotline. Disney's butchering of the trilogy- and especially their butchering of the third film- will go down in history as one of the worst business management decisions/examples of all time. up there with "New Coke."

5
telepathic_pepe 5 points ago +6 / -1

Arguably, New Coke was a success because after they abandoned it, they brought back "Coca Cola CLASSIC" and sales went through the roof because of nostalgia or whatever

2
Ithrowawaay 2 points ago +5 / -3

How the fuck is a sword fight between two telekenetics determined by “the high ground.”

One of the most iconic villains of all time and his origin story was butchered. Well put.

4
DrCowboyPresident 4 points ago +6 / -2

It makes sense, actually. He had to commit to a jump, his movement could be somewhat predicted. Obi-Wan is perhaps the best defensive/positional fighter in the entire series , it was a death sentence. There was a guaranteed opening and he was definitely good enough to find it.

If you find the movie disappointing, I highly suggest the novel. It really is fantastic.

TheChosen 3 points ago +3 / -0

It was absolutely terrible. All it took for Anakin to become Vader was a "knighting" ceremony and name change from Palpatine? And just a single saber swing that delimbed the whiney brat?

Not to mention that the whiney brat all of a sudden transformed into perhaps the most mature, pragmatic, and "religiously faithful" character in the original trilogy? Not buying it.

I much prefer an older theory from before the dark times... before the prequels. Back then, it was speculated that Vader slowly became the dark villain over a long, gradual transition. Basically, fighting in the Clone Wars (which was nothing like the prequel Clone Wars), and it was like a slow-burning Vietnam War that suffocated whatevery good him. Battle by battle, he suffered wound after wound, eventually becoming more machine than man (not all at once).

I still remember (and still search for) a fan-art rendering of a maskless Clone Wars-era Vader. He had the face of a younger Sebastian Shaw (the real face of Anakin). He was dressed in black, and there was a hellish landscape in the background. You could see the experience of a thousand battles on his scarred face. It was... emotional. The image has stuck with me for 20+ years. I wish I could find it again!

3
Obi-Wan_Kenobi 3 points ago +3 / -0

It was a really good saber swing though...

3
ThickCheney 3 points ago +3 / -0

There’s a special place in my heart for the prequels. I don’t know why but I can over look most of the bad.

2

The sequels were woke trash. I gave Ep. 7 the benefit of the doubt, but the last Jedi was utter garbage. Didn’t even bother with 9. The only redeeming value is they make the prequels look amazing by comparison.

Transcribed from April 2020:

What we do between now and then is going to dictate a lot of that as well. But my point is that I think you just got to follow the science. Listen to the experts. Listen to the Faucis of the world. And if that's the case, it's the case,” he said.

“But we cannot let this -- we’ve never allowed any crisis from a Civil War straight through to a pandemic in ‘17, all the way around, in ’16, we have never, never let our democracy take second fiddle, we can both have a democracy and elections and at the same time protect the public health,” he continued.

“It shouldn’t be mail-in voting," he added. "It should be you go to a booth and you proudly display yourself. You don’t send it in the mail where people can pick up — all sorts of bad things can happen … by the time it gets in and is tabulated."
