And a 7.25%-10.85% sales tax depending on where you live if you decide to buy anything. 1% property tax (based on value of home) every year. 72 cent per gallon tax on fuel. If you smoke, prepare to pay $4 more for your nicotine in tax. Registering a vehicle? Has to be done every year, and if it's a pickup truck - get ready to bend over for a weight tax. You even get taxed on OTHER people's DUI's by registering your vehicle.

This state is crazy.

People who aren't from here seldom understand. My wife and I make six figures, sounds like a lot, but We could live more comfortably in other places making half as much.

Yep, I remember my first job here when my boss said $500k/year was a middle class life in CA and I balked. It's probably not that high, but you need to make well above $100k to have a normal life int he city.

Oh more than that in the bay area. If you're anywhere near the big tech shithole, get ready to pay millions for an average home without any property.

Luckily, for me, California is HUGE. So the central and northern parts of the state are still semi reasonable (I mean my 2000 sqft house is still over $320k, but I've got a little property and my neighbors aren't stacked on me). The problem is we live like we're in Texas, but have to be represented by people who have no idea what country life is about.

Lol well, I am maybe exaggerating. Are you in CA or TX? I think I might have misunderstood.
