This is a direct quote from an email I received from the county Republican chairwoman. Will paste it in its entirety below:

Sometimes a situation presents itself and you just need to do what is right. That’s how I feel about what happened during the most recent election. We had an extremely strong slate of candidates who put a lot of money and their time into their campaigns. The data just doesn’t make sense and deserves a second look.

It was two weeks ago that the Jeffco Republicans refused to certify the Nov. 3rd election results. The certification board is comprised of five people: the Democrat chair and a second Democrat, myself and another Republican, and the County Clerk. Our County Clerk, George Stern, is a Democrat. Minutes after we refused to sign, he was the tie-breaker who certified the results.

Ten days after submitting a Minority Report to the County Clerk on that day of the certification, I got a response. The most important outcome is that he agreed to hold onto the 2018 election record for an additional year rather than destroying it later this month.

Our efforts to get a recount are being stonewalled by the County Clerk’s office. They say only THEY can do the recount, it would be on their equipment (same way it was already counted), and that it would cost at least $25,000 for just one election cycle. I have asked for both 2018 and 2020 to be recounted.

We are receiving voter files that include:

· People with the same first name, gender, and residence, but voted twice;

· People with the same first, middle, and last name, gender, year of birth, and address, but voted twice;

· Deceased voters (196 records) who voted (these are being verified by volunteers); and

· Almost 3,000 people who filed a National Change of Address but received a Jeffco ballot. This record batch needs to be verified by volunteers.

We are turning these records over to the District Attorney’s office. The problem is, the new Democrat District Attorney starts Jan. 12th and has already notified numerous staff they are terminated or staff decided to voluntarily resign. This means we have a short window of time for these questionable voter records to be investigated. Once the new DA is installed, I highly doubt she will continue looking at these records.

Both 2018 candidates and Jeffco Republicans filed Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) requests last week. The one filed by the candidates came back at around $25,000. Our CORA was more extensive and will probably be much more costly.

To be very clear about my concerns with this election, I am concerned about our laws that are very permissive as to who can vote and I am concerned about Dominion software tabulation. Let me explain both of these.

Voter registration laws. Colorado’s laws have become very liberal over the years as we have been under Democrats controlling both the House and Senate, and the Governor’s office. Anyone who has had interaction with the government, gets registered to vote and ballots are mailed out to everyone who is registered. Thankfully, voters (Nov. 3rd ballot) agreed only people here legally should be allowed to vote on the citizens referendum (Amendment 76), but that wasn’t in effect for this ballot. Literally, our poll watchers saw several people show the Election Judge something on their phone to get a ballot. Further, just two days before ballots dropped in Colorado our Secretary of State, a Democrat, changed the ballot cure process to allow individuals to cure their ballots using a smart phone.

Another Republican County Chair is pursuing legislation that would tighten our voter registration laws. I support that effort and will testify in support of a bill that will tighten our laws. Sadly, since the Democrats control both houses, this legislation will probably die in committee, but at least we will have made our concerns public and stood for what is right.

Dominion software tabulation. We’ve all heard the stories of questionable results from counties or states across the country using Dominion software. In Colorado, 60 counties and the State use Dominion. Jeffco installed Dominion in 2017. Since that time only ONE Republican has been elected at the county or legislative levels in Jeffco. A county that in 2016 (the year before Dominion was installed), had only one Democrat elected to a countywide office, flipped so that now we only have two Republicans in countywide elected office, and both of them were uncontested on the ballot.

The State’s process to ensure election integrity involves a Risk Limiting Audit (RLA). Both major political parties participate in this. We are handed hard-copy ballots and asked to enter the votes into the computer. The SOS chooses which ballots we “audit.” State law requires 4% of the vote be audited. Yet a few weeks ago we were asked to “audit” 193 ballots. In other words, .051% of the votes cast in Jeffco. A true audit, one that would pass muster at your bank, for example, would not have the entity being audited choosing what record is audited nor that small of a sample size. The ONLY way to truly audit Dominion tabulations is 1) run the ballots through a different vote tabulation platform, or 2) conduct a hand recount of a much larger sample size, with ballots selected by a bipartisan team.

Jeffco, and the State, have a good system in place for ballot integrity once they receive the ballots. We had hundreds of poll watchers and election judges working this election cycle. They reported numerous compliments for the process. Yes, there were some issues with individual election judge’s using bad judgment, but the Elections Director promptly addressed those. COVID-19 regulations did restrict our access, but it wasn’t completely unreasonable.

In reviewing the 2018 election results, several of us saw anomalies that just didn’t make sense. But there could have been other factors influencing those numbers. Then we saw more strange data this cycle. Further, almost every single Democrat on the ballot did NOT talk to people at their doors and had a smug “we’ve got this” attitude at forums. Again, just “odd.”

In contrast, our two Jeffco GOP staff members alone, knocked on more than 20,000 doors July 1 through Election Day when they were out with candidates and those candidates often had other volunteers with them, also. Some of our candidates walked every single precinct in their district and many precincts twice! Almost every single Unaffiliated or soft Democrat voter, at their door, said they would vote for our candidates. We made more than 100,000 Get Out The Vote (GOTV) calls in the weeks before the election. Our ground game this election season was STRONG!

I cannot in good conscience turn away from all the strange data, potential voter fraud, and suspicions about the Dominion software in tabulating our ballots. I won’t be able to ask another credible candidate to run for office in a county where they are guaranteed to lose. If we don’t address these questionable findings now, how long should we put up with these results before we demand answers?

Many of you have asked how you can help. We are currently in negotiations with the County Clerk’s office about the CORAs. Further, we are submitting questionable voter records to the District Attorney this week. If we cannot get a fair recount negotiated, I will be asking for your help to put pressure on our County Clerk.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate this complex situation. We wouldn’t be devoting so much time to this, during the holiday season, if it weren’t extremely important. Whatever the outcome, citizens deserve a fair and transparent election process.
