Yep! It's a superstitious virtue-signal without a shred of conclusive scientific backing. Drives me nuts!

Argh! I know! I don't know whether to laugh or yell!

On the plus side it's become SO much easier to spot idiots. On the down side I'm now acutely aware of just how many stupid people I'm surrounded by.

Haha that's exactly me! I started out content cause I could spot the idiots and laugh at them with my friends, but then it became sad to know how many idiots there are close to me.

I was annoyed at first whenever people walking towards me on the sidewalk would walk out into the street to walk around me but the further the crazy people stay away from me the better.

Right? It’s one thing to wear it or not, whatever idc. I’m just gonna silently judge you for it. But you have these people with the holier than thou attitude who try to shame you for not indulging in their lunacy. Fuck off! Everybody need to mind their own framing business.

On the subject of stupid people awareness. I do a daily exercise of imagining the most average person I can think of. Then I remind myself that our planet is filled with at least 3.5 billion people dumber than that person. Glass is half empty and shit.

Don't forget all the people driving solo wearing masks in their car...in an enclosed environment with no one to infect, and no one to infect them

I saw someone doing that the other day.

When they parked, a homeless person went over and coughed all over the door handle.

I laughed and continued my walk while listening to this.

Ask a simple question. Show me studies produced before 2020

To the contrary of not having evidence, The large scale Danish study showed masks didn't have a measurable effect on spread.

There is scientific evidence that masks don't work

Not remotely. If you have an aerosol-infectious disease like Kung Flu, masks reduce the release of aerosol particles. There's no need for a triple-blind study on whether masks work in particular for Wu Flu, since we've already got the studies that show it's airborne.

That said, wearing a mask when you're not sick actually makes you MORE likely to get the disease. It's bonkers.

I agree with your second point but I respectfully disagree with your first:

https://www.sott.net/article/434796-The-Science-is-Conclusive-Masks-and-Respirators-do-NOT-Prevent-Transmission-of-Viruses

The main transmission path is long-residence-time aerosol particles (< 2.5 μm), which are too fine to be blocked, and the minimum-infective-dose is smaller than one aerosol particle.

Some of the more generous studies give surgical masks somewhere around a ~2% rate of filtration of infected aerosol particles but the results are at best inconclusive and bordering on the margin of error. It's a benefit so tiny it hardly exists if at all.

Furthermore this "benefit" quickly degrades as the moisture in your breath opens the pores of the paper filter, giving you at most 15 minutes before you need a fresh one.

That's what I meant, the findings have been inconclusive at best. There's no study that I've found that says, yes, if you're sick wearing a mask will meaningfully block the transmission of a viral infection.

Plus there's data now that casts serious doubt on whether asymptomatic spread is even occurring.

So there's just no reason to be wearing them which is why no health organization has ever recommended them for the general public in a health crisis. Up until, mysteriously, 2020 when nearly every nation in the world suddenly ditched their own guidelines and began following those of the Communist Chinese...

Don't forget about the study done by Fauci himself that said a very large percentage of people died during the 1918 pandemic BECAUSE OF THE MASKS not in spite of them. People would get bacterial pneumonia and die in a similar fashion as the cyanotic presentation from the actual flu. The supposed bigger second wave every reddit idiot throws out is likely due to masking and not the spanish flu.

Your point about the mask being made useless in less than an hour is also a great point that is just not being presented. The masks are only somewhat useful for a very short period of time. Then they become the reason you get sick.

The funniest example is seeing people wearing masks driving by (alone!) in their cars. Actually it was funny at first; now it's infuriating. I feel like screaming at them, "You stupid brainwashed asshole! Get a clue!"
