Masks aren't even supposed to do anything. It's just when you cross a door and happen to be what is conceived "inside", you are supposed to wear a mask, because otherwise you are a dangerous heretic.

It has nothing to do with any humans around. Even if you are alone in the shop and the shop keeper is relatively young and healthy.

REASON AND REALITY DOES NOT MATTER. It's a 100% virtue signal, a token of obedience, a symbolic gesture of ideological adherence.

You don't have to like the Hitler Salute, you just have to do it.
