Sadly this is how the vast majority of Americans think. Many of my friends think that networks like ABC, CBS, and NBC are the gold standard for news because they're "unbiased" even though that could not be further from the truth. "If it were true than the media would have reported it by now."
The fact they deemed that since mainstream media isnt reporting it then it must be fake news is telling.
