Can be disputed with housing authorities. You signed a contract for terms and agreed to rent. They arbitrarily changing it without cause is mostly reversed.
ask how firm that is, indicate that you may rather move than accept, they may be willing to come off, or maybe not, but it won't hurt to ask, when the lease came up on my place back in feburary (which admittedly was an entire age ago this year) they wanted to raise my rent $100, I simply asked how solid that was and they came off $50 bucks and I am a horrid negotiator
