TRUST ME ... There is little love lost in GA with Cagle's defeat. He ruled the GA Senate as his personal fiefdom. Us oldtimers at GeorgiaCarry.Org watched too many times when he would court us before the elections and forget about us afterwards during legislation time. But he had tons of connections and tons of friends. We genuinely thought Kemp would be fresh air compared to Cagle's career politician life (think Republican-ish Biden).
The "good 'ole boy" network in GA is still as powerful today as it was in the 1950s, just far under the radar. And now it's the Good 'Ole Boys versus the recently arrived Detroit Refugees battling for control ... with common folk being stuck in No Man's Land in the middle. It ain't pretty.
