Never trust any media absolutely. Many populations have had to learn this the hard way, even a hundred or even two hundred years ago. They thrive off of complacency.
I've seen the occasional lack of fact checking here as well. We should all have a healthy sense of suspicion for everything. It's what separates us from the NPC's.
