I actually try not to use it IRL because I don't have anything against gay people, and I have slipped up and said it in front of gay friends without even intending to use it as a gay slur, and I felt shitty. I could see it actually hurt them to hear me say it so casually.

It's good to use otherwise unacceptable language sometimes to keep tabs on how much censorship you're being subjected to. If .win mods decided to start banning for naughty words, I'd know we were compromised.
