If you ask me medical doctors are the only profession remaining where formal "old-school" schooling truly makes sense and even then they should only be doing the med school portion of it, the pre-med bachelors is BS.
Some pre-med programs require students to take commie bullshit like Chicano studies, women's studies, Native American (White men are evil) studies, etc.
It is hard enough to maintain a 4.0+ without having to deal with commie courses taught by pissed off minority professors. Rub the commie professor the wrong way, and it could fuck up your GPA and your chances of getting into Med School.

The vast majority of doctors could get by with an apprenticeship, but that isn't bureaucratic enough to satisfy regulation agencies.
