I've been seeing bits of info about this and I think the full picture needs to be put together but basically the way I understand it is that the Texas case is so constitutionally sound that ruling against it on an issue of such importance would essentially render the constitution null and void as it would be a clear admission by the court that the constitution has no actual legal weight in our system. Therefore it would essentially leave states free to do whatever they want. My hope would then be for a union of the southeastern, midwestern and mountain west states to continue on as the United States of America and reform a new union. Of course practically speaking this could very well mean a war would happen but also maybe not.

This is what the chinese want. If there is ever a civil war, they will send their support to whatever side aligns with their interests. It happens all the time in civil wars. There is no way there would be no international involvement. It would be bad. Really bad.
And countries China pissed off would help the other side. It would just end up as a world war. However, China, North Korea, etc., might be happy using nukes.
