Hello everyone, sorry for the new account. I created one awhile ago but have since forgotten my username and such. To get to the point, my grandfather, a Vietnam Vet and all around top tier patriot will be going in to surgery for cancer in his sinuses early tomorrow morning. They say he could pass away on the table or shortly after. I spent tonight with him drinking scotch and watching "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly", as well as praying with him before he went to bed. I didn't let him see me sad and put on a brave face for him, but I'm only 23 and don't know what I'd do without him. Any prayers you guys could send I sure would appreciate. I know he won't be around forever, but I don't feel like I've had enough time with him yet. Thanks to this community and everything you guys do. May the Lord's will be done.

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who prayed and kept my grandfather in your thoughts. He is home and recovering from the surgery. He is still a little confused and disoriented but is happy to be home in his chair and his bed. I think over the next few days being at home is going to help him out a lot. Once again thanks to everyone who kept him in your prayers, I remember the morning of the surgery feeling like the Lord was very close. I'm sure it had something to do with all the prayers surrounding our family. Love you all.

Thank you pede. I'm not really sure where my grandfather would be in that area, but thankfully I think if he makes it through he will not be in that kind of state at this point. He's otherwise in pretty good health for his age, which is a blessing. That's a very encouraging story to hear and I appreciate your prayer for my grandpa

He was unconscious at the time and had been for two days....

Very often they can hear, and do, even when it seems like they can't.

He smiled the biggest smile I'd ever seen

Yup. Stories from hospitals abound about people unconscious who later wake up and remember everything said to them while they were "out".

I'm sure he heard you.

Also, from all the research (such as there can be, with the limits of current-day technology) and thousands of anecdotals of near-death experiences and similar cases, the consistent message is that death is nothing to fear.

Who turned on the humidifier? My allergies must be really bad, because my eyes started leaking on that one.

Praying for you and your grandpa. Father God, please guide the surgeon’s hands tomorrow and be with this beloved grandpa before, during and after the surgery. Restore him to health and help him to enjoy many more years with his grandson. Amen.

So sorry to hear it, friend. I know what you're going through. Both grandfathers of mine. I'm praying for him right after typing this. Believe me when I say that Heaven is a beautiful place where true happiness is found. No sickness, no problems. You'll make it through this. I bet your grandfather would expect nothing less than a tough face and a strong back, no matter what happens.

His liver wont metabolize things propperly if he was drinking the night before surgery. Hopefully he hydrates and pees a lot before going under or it wont be the cancer removal it could just be the anesthetics that get him 6 foot under. but.. maybe hes very well arware of this.. i would strongly urge you to put off everything and go in with him. Let him know hes loved. He can be in pain. But havent we always all been in pain? Its our loved ones that hold us together. Let him know that if he needs to wait a day he should. Drinking before surgery is common in those who wish to end their life. His pain could be that bad though. im not touching that with a 30 foot legal pole or a 50 foot moral poking stick. But i will say this. Go out like a real man. Not on your Knees. And i will say this. Time space and matter all require eachother - they were started at the instant of the big bang -------- Something beyond time space and matter allows us, and made this, if that were not true neither would newtons law be, for every action is an equal and oposite reaction. How does one fear death. How does one question his own existence. This is where newton and God meet together. ANd most are too dumb to see it. ----------- Your friendly agnostic muslim that knows Jesus Christ is the Messiah just like the Quran the bible and the torah say. ------ Love you and wish you the best.

The Lord's will is life abundant. You only need to accept his timing and a will of your own joined with Him. I will pray that this be your best Christmas ever.

Visualize him surviving and thriving. See it in your mind as established fact. Think of it as completely inevitable. Visualize drinking and watching movies with him a week, month, and year from now. Be steadfast and SEE IT happening.

Psalm 23 (KJV):

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

I pray that God holds your grandfather in the palm of His hand, protects his faith above all else, and guides the hands of the surgeons as they work to save him. I pray that you and your family are comforted in your hour of need. I pray a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. In Christ's name I pray, Amen.
