From a personal standpoint, I chose to by weapons this year in order to defend my family. My wife and I took safety courses and then instructor led sessions in the shooting range. If needed, I'd work with law enforcement if they needed to enlist help.
On a broader scale, if there are violent Antifa/BLM riots, or President should hesitate to offer Federal help and if not requested but needed to protect the citizenry, he should declare a State of Emergency and do whatever is needed.

Then when the smoke clears and the ashes settle tell them all federal funding has been cut and bill them for damages to any and all federal property.
