It's possible. I would personally put more weight behind the idea that they were trying to force Trump to concede - or at least isolating him to the point that a Biden transition was a done deal - by providing absolutely no coverage of the legal challenges other than sneering mockery. They haven't figured out what their new talking points are because the people giving the orders can't understand why Trump hasn't conceded yet.

Remember that Fox clip: "What is this? We called the election already."

They really believe this. Perhaps China is snickering at the potential chaos, but the MSM? No they are caught in a trap of their own rhetorical making.
