Apple is about to launch their own search engine, I think. Not that this is necessarily a great alternative, but the convenience of apple search on apple devices alone will steer a lot of people away from Google.

seriously and dump chrome if you haven't already. I switched my 86 year grandma to Brave with duckduckgo in literally 5 minutes. All bookmarks ported perfectly and works almost exactly the same. She barely even notices she's not using google anymore.

And dump chrome on work computers as well as personal and phones!

And ditch android phones! They're good for nothing but harvesting your data without consent. Personally, I'm pretty OK with a Pine64 and Ubuntu Touch.

Thanks I had ubuntu for my computer before and it worked fine. Didn't know they did cell phones. I hate my phone. I have zero social media but I pay for a ton of data in case I ever need GPS or get stranded and need info.

I moved to duck duck, but several people have mentioned that the board of the company is problematic, that isn't a reason not to move to them, fractionalizing them as much as possible is a step in the right direction, but we need more secure and independent platforms as possible...

No problem. Convenience increases engagement.

Interesting...I feel like I've found something that I didn't realize I was missing!

I think apple could be a bridge to step away from google and then move from apple where you can. What's a good email platform to move to that should survive a long time?

ProtonMail. It’s totally encrypted and run out of Switzerland. Much stronger privacy rights than in US.

Yeah, but most people aren't tech savvy and need to make changes wherever you can, what sucks is having an apple phone with google on it, better to not give two companies your information, might as well use apple mail app then, (or MSFT in the same situation), I am setting up proton mail so I will be free of them soon...
