  1. Go to gun store

  2. Take gun safety test

  3. Show proof of residency, pay for gun, buy ammo

  4. Wait 10 days

  5. Pick up said gun

  6. Go to shooting range to practice

Edit: It look me literally 1hr to study, drive to gun store, take test, and get a laminated certificate.

Im renting month to month so not on the lease. Move where? I have no cash saved up to just move... I came here to potentially work and build my life.

Im willing to move if i had opportunity somewhere else.

Current California Driver's License + Current Vehicle Registration

Addresses must match.

Edit: Alternatively buy an 80% lower and start from there (these are still legal in CA right?)

Last time I checked, no gun stores near me had any handguns in stock, same for ammo.

you can't buy an AR in CA .. there is no inventory. If you can find a gun to buy then you wait 10 days before you can take delivery of it.
