Yea not every person is sexually compatible with the other. In fact some find that out quickly after getting married and then get a divorce shortly after.
Those rules for Christianity were formed before 'courtship' was even a thing. When the process of marriage involves more haggling with the parents than talking to the future spouse, makes sense not to have sex.
But given how radically different modern coupling is, the sex rule makes very little sense now.

I'm not sure what you mean by "normalization," but dating has certainly been around a lot longer than 100 years. And in the 1950s, interestingly nobody bought the "try it before you buy it" mentality that seems to have spread like a plague. The loosening morals you describe were brought about by the social programming of the 1960s, the so-called "sexual revolution," which was a communist psychological operation targeting the nuclear family and the core structure of the Western family. Sadly, many Americans, even "right wingers" accepted it as an organic "development" of social mores, and decided to swallow the jagged blue pill that declared morals as nothing more than Darwinian social norms subject to gradual and even rapid evaporation and change.
i think what attacked the 'nuclear family' was primarily feminism + push for economic system where it takes multiple incomes to own a home and feed your family.
Kids need a lot of attention. They need a mother at home, looking after them and providing early education that's critical at age 2+.
Any career will be at expense of motherhood.
