You're not an American Patriot if you keep buying Chinese shit!

21
ScrewReddit 21 points ago +21 / -0

A couple of biggies:

  1. Walmart: Anything labeled as "Made in Bentonville, AR" is likely Chinese in origin. I used to stock shelves there. The outer shipping cartons all had Chinese markings on them.

  2. Smithfield Foods: It's the U.S.'s biggest pork producer. In 2013, the Obama administration approved the sale of them to China. Their brands include: Armour, Berlinki, Carando, Cook's, Curly's, Eckrich, Farmland, Gwaltney, Healthy Ones, John Morrell, Krakus, Kretschmar, Margherita, Morliny, Nathan's Famous, and, of course, Smithfield.

The http://www.krakusfoods.com/ website links to Smithfield in the footer. Your Polish ham may have Chinese hormones in it.

And 9/10 things you see advertised on Facebook are MADE IN CHINA and WILL NOT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE PICTURES (because they literally steal the pictures from whoever originally created the product; they're not dumb enough to take photos of their much-cheaper knock offs for you to see).

What are some good alternatives for stuff like mipi screens, 3d printer parts, etc? I can find alternatives for common goods, but uncommon ones are nearly impossible.

7
RowardHoark 7 points ago +7 / -0

I buy directly from the manufacturer if possible. Don’t care about spending more money because I’m buying from them to support them, rather than buying fake Chinese knock-offs from amazon

4
UnderCoverTrumper 4 points ago +4 / -0

Hi fren, I'm a humble humanities pede. I'm afraid I'm not your tech person you seek. My husband buys used computers to circumvent funding the CCP (but he's like an open source absolutist so he's sort of in a different market than your average computer user).

2
Ralph-RaccooN 2 points ago +2 / -0

Do what you can, the more we support our supply chain the more robust it will be, we're really down and out in manufacturing goods.

1
rutabaga 1 point ago +1 / -0

I could make microchips and set up a whole printing facility tbh, but I'd mostly be out-competed by China, and any tech I made would be stolen. It be nice to support stopping that.

4
IMMORTAN_TRUMP 4 points ago +5 / -1

This! I bought the Domain AMERIZON.US to make an all american amazon competitor but then realized I know nothing about web design, ecommerce or anything of the sort. So if any fellow pedes want to help me I'd be super stoked. Willing to trade shares for work.

3
UnderCoverTrumper 3 points ago +3 / -0

I love that idea! I don't know anything about web design but you should make a post about it maybe? (I don't know if that counts as self promotion but it seems like American promotion to me?)

2
IMMORTAN_TRUMP 2 points ago +3 / -1

I'm hesitant to do that yet because I don't want the mods to nuke my account, like you said self promotion. But no one said anything about that catturd guy who spammed his own tweets in /r/the_donald and here for years. Now he's been retweeted by the president. I'm trying to think of a way that it can benefit the movement beyond just supporting american manufactures so that the mods would get on board let me promote.

Buy Royal Dansk. They are common and a bit more expensive but actually made in Denmark.

Aldi also carries European (German) baked goods.

Those $1 store tins have been made in China for years now.

5
BeefyBelisarius 5 points ago +5 / -0

Just checked my pantry and medicine cabinet. Most stuff just says "distributed by" instead of "made in". How the hell can we tell where stuff like that was made? How do I know the US company that distributes whatever didn't import it first?

Confiscate everything of theirs. Land, property, factories, businesses. They have basically done that already to our factories and companies over there.. Hell they have been doing that with the tech and source code for decades. And now with this act of war they have committed against us.. I want their gov centers nuked and their surviving gov officials hung. You hear that Chyna!? I want you dead.

13
rossagesausage 13 points ago +13 / -0

I've already been doing that as much as I can. You'd be amazed how much of America's shit is made in that fucked up country.

9
CaptainButthurt 9 points ago +9 / -0

One huge problem I have is just so many raw electronics and machined parts are only manufactured in china alone and nowhere else. Things like stepper motors, heating elements, aluminum machined rods, etc. I do 3d printing and I never once seen any of the electronics or anything else made in America. Its really sort of sad how much we just gifted them in terms of manufacturing. We really screwed ourselves by moving so much into china.

Hopefully in Trumps 2nd term, he can help remedy this issue and push congress to get businesses to leave China.

8
Forthelead 8 points ago +8 / -0

Totally agree. Since the spring I've been trying to eliminate purchasing products made in China, but in some cases, even with significant time spent researching options, it is impossible.

Hopefully a fix will be available for this shortly.

Obvious Labels: "Made in China or PRC"

Less Obvious Labels: "Assembled in (US State)", it's most likely from China

Trickiest Labels: "Made in Malaysia or any southeast asian country", it's most likely from Chinese factories in that specific country

Is there a website or list of companies that are American-made? It'd be nice if I was looking for clothes to be able to look that up quickly.

I’ve recently found American made socks and toys for my kids. Biggest problems seem to be electronics and clothes...other than supporting China, a lot of brands also use Uighur slave labor.

Any recommendations on American made brands, pedes?

3
DRKMSTR 3 points ago +3 / -0

We need PC parts made in the USA.

1
Clippeddickmcgee 1 point ago +1 / -0

https://puri.sm/products/librem-5-usa/

The closest I’ve found is this phone, which is very expensive for years old parts, but has a Linux OS that’s fully auditable and has a kill switch for all signals.

Agreed on parts though. I build my desktops and it kills me that my CPU, MoBo, RAM, and all my drives are made overseas. The CPUs are diffused in the USA but then sent to Asia to be assembled.

3
sealedIndictments 3 points ago +3 / -0

I created a firefox extension to filter country of manufacture on ebay. If anyone is interested I'll share it.

On Wayfair you can filter by country of manufacture.

Reminder that Taiwan ≠ China regardless of what Beijing says. They just want to run businesses in peace and hate those commie motherfuckers as much as we do, if not more since they have to live under constant threat of invasion.

2
Kekistancoffee 2 points ago +2 / -0

I can see this as being necessary. I recall it being done back in the 80s (I was a little kid) against Japanese products.

I just purchased a Kekistan Flag, and, sadly, the (literally) only place to get it was from walmart, who ordered it through china.

I'll certainly do my part moving forward, though.

2
lemonjuice 2 points ago +2 / -0

We need 100% tariffs on chinese imports. Their election meddling is an act of war, modern problems require modern solutions.

2
Imin-theinternet 2 points ago +2 / -0

It will get easier is trump does an embargo

2
Mikesummer333 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is easy as fuck. Buy everything you can "used". Buying used shit doesn't give any value to china! Anything you have to buy "new" always check the label

2
Pointyearnation 2 points ago +2 / -0

You are so correct people don't understand how powerful that is. Ask starkist.people stopped buying due to dolphins, they did a.u turn really quuck!!!

2
RussianLimbaugh 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is going to be a bit of a task during the Christmas season, but I’d rather put in the effort to research & budget than to support commies who want to strip me of the means to research, budget, & celebrate Christmas.

Samsung is South Korea... but I would bet a good portion of that is made in China as well.

Look into https://puri.sm That is the website address.

They even have a phone made in the USA(https://shop.puri.sm/shop/librem-5-usa/), albeit pricey. But at least they have the option.

2
basedboston 2 points ago +2 / -0

“Very simple: Pick up a product. Look at the barcode. If the first 3 numbers are 690 or 691 or 692, the product was made in China. Put it down and buy from any other country. If the numbers are 00 thru 09 to start, it’s USA made. Buy American.”

"This claim is party false. While barcodes can identify the country of origin of the manufacturing company, they do not indicate where the product is made" ... still FUCK 690 691 and 692

I look at it as a way of determining who is of goodwill and who isn't.

And a way of determining who is serious and who isn't.

And you've given me an excellent idea of what you have the willpower to boycott: Nothing. Trying to justify your weakness by pretending everyone else is just like you won't work.

There still are plenty of people with the will to take our country back.

You're free to sit on the sidelines and undermine their efforts with your cheap Chinese shit if you want to, but your sad attempts at dragging everyone down will continue to be seen for what they are: Rationalization for not giving up your crappy creature comforts.
