I have encountered some California "Republican" refugees in my personal life. They claimed to be conservative, but they didn't give jack shit about property rights. Conservative for California isn't always conservative outside of California.

I used to think that when I finally got to a better state, I wouldn't say I'm from Boston, I'd tell them I was from PA cause that's where I was raised and who I really am. But now with what's happening there I'm still screwed.

California is like many other blue states and cities, where their natural beauty or decades of strong industries has led to them forgetting the things that made them successful. Like being the child of a rich dad that worked his ass off to build a business and now he lives off the wealth built by his father without appreciating what it takes to succeed and little by little squandering the wealth until it’s just a shell of its former self.
