New york got the same strain as Itally, which came directly from Wuhan. West coast got the watered down strain. Michigan had the Itally/new york strain in the beginning as well, but it's been bred out by the west coast strain which is "more contagious" but substantially less lethal, (approx x10 common flu Vs. x800).
