Hmm. Hard to argue - but I wouldn't say it's as quiet as a bow if you're trying for stealth. I'd have to admit that the last time I target shot with a .22 there was a metal backstop (which deflected the slugs down - it was set at an angle). That backstop I recall was indeed louder (when impacted) than the gun delivering the round.
This was outdoors without any hearing protection (back in the day - like in the 80s). Single action bolt with iron keyhole sight. I swear I almost found the make of the gun (it was popular with ROTC training), but off the top of my head I've mixed it up with dozens I'd like to get.
You would get a lot more range with a 22 rifle tho.
(footnote I'm still a fan of bolt action - there's a zen quality in lining up your shots with a manual load and unload when doing precision target shooting IMO)

There's a greater deal of pent up and repressed frustration, rage, and even violence on the right than people want to admit. We're beyond angry at this point.
