if I remember correctly, scenarios that involved Trump staging a coup ended either with 'military honorably takes Democrat side' or 'coastal states should secede'

Calling in UN/China was a silly tweet. China has next to zero ability to actually deliver and maintain significant troop numbers and also there would be no faster way to unify both the military and the citizenry in US behind Trump than to threaten foreign troops landing on UN soil.

The moment China mobilizes for war, Japan and India mobilize to contain them.

THIS...I think India is the key ally in this scenario

Does Japan have a military?

It’s the most powerful Non-Military in the world.

It’s basically the most well armed and well trained defense force in the world.

If California secedes, Newsom is going to be in a world of hurt. He's surrounded by many armed, nearby enemies.

Free land, tax free, with an ocean view? Hell yeah!

If it secedes, China will fund the CA and buy it out. Then we have China as a neighbor.

China has next to zero ability to actually deliver and maintain significant troop numbers

Which I keep finding myself needing to point out to people, and I'm glad some of us get it without being told.

there would be no faster way to unify both the military and the citizenry in US behind Trump than to threaten foreign troops landing on UN (sic) soil

Which is so damned obvious that I don't even bother to say it. How can anyone not understand this?
