I hate him. I held my nose and voted for him because I would not vote for a Democrat.... He sucks.

For real. I hate that I had to vote for him. I almost wish he'd get busted with Chinese hookerspies, too.

No such luck. He's in bed with the US Chamber of Commerce and in support of illegal aliens and amnesty for same. For a law and order fella, he served as a District Court Judge, Associate Justice on Texas Supreme Court and AG for Texas, he would be able to follow the law. No such luck. He's got his hand in the pockets of them that has money and they have him by the short hairs. What a cuck.

That's not really Trump's responsibility. It's ours. As a whole, we need to be much more active during the primaries, run for office ourselves, or help campaign for MAGA-approved candidates. If no MAGA candidates run for an office, there isn't anything Trump can do about it.

Anaconda 3 points ago +3 / -0

funny how you blame the POTUS for something that is YOUR responsibility. there is only so much he can do. if you don't like cornyn then you should have fired his ass months ago in the primary. say hello to six more years of cornyn after he won re-election this year.

MeSewCorny 2 points ago +2 / -0

Same. Hes only talking like this now that he has a fresh term.

If Biden/Harris get inaugurated I'll only vote democrat to help burn it all down.

LpTx 26 points ago +26 / -0

He just got re-elected, so he figures we’ll forget in 6 years.

tdwinner2020 4 points ago +4 / -0

He figures wrong.

John Cronyn is owned by China. The great Lou Dobbs has been telling us this for years.

priestessnico 11 points ago +11 / -0

Any Texan halfway clued into politics has known this since before Trump. He’s a clueless grifter at best.

2
Anaconda 2 points ago +2 / -0

An election for federal office (POTUS/VP, House, Senate) is not a state's election. Federal elections determine how federal money, which is taken from all states, is spent, and determines who makes federal laws that all states have to follow.

We need to completely separate federal elections from state/local elections. Federal elections need to be governed exclusively by federal law.

Originally, the people were only supposed to vote for our state government and our federal representative. State legislatures would elect the senators going to D.C. to represent the states' interests, and they would also appoint electors to the electoral college. So the STATES elected president and VP (as a check on the executive branch). We elected the house because the people having the power of the purse provided the check on the Senate and the executive branch.

When we finally get out of this mess the 17th amendment has to go. States used to use the popular vote in their own state to determine the sentiment of the people, which they could use to choose electors if they wished.

Our founders were not foolish men. They knew damned well that letting everyone vote willy nilly was a great way to end up with a democracy instead of a Republic. And they didn't want one because they knew democracies are a bad idea.

If we have to keep the 17th, then we need federal voting reform laws. No more constant violation of Foster v Love, no extended elections, no months of early voting, vote by mail, none of it. Every other nation on the planet can manage to conduct their election in a single day. There is zero excuse for us fucking it up.

Well we need a better way to fix that. Like state legislatures could have been mandated to call a special session and appoint someone within 30 days. or something. Making it a vote by the people diluted the power of states and weakened our checks and balances. Our founders spent a hell of a long time designing this "building". It is never a good idea to weaken the primary structure of anything. Add to it, yep. But not in a way that weakens the structure.

Cornyn is an embarrassment. I don't care what initial comes after his name. He is on par with McCain and represents Texas about as well as Sheila Jackson Lee.

  1. When people decided to vote for whomever promised to give them other people's money.

  2. When election fraud stopped being prosecuted.

  3. When the media stopped reporting news several generations ago.

  4. When we started voting for political parties instead of people

Damiano 2 points ago +4 / -2

Yup.

This is why I loathe the entire concept of political parties.

The horrible truth is we have ourselves to blame. Rather than do the work to actually look into individual candidates for difference offices, everyone shows up and votes straight ticket for a dozen people they've never heard of.

Better to write yourself in than vote for any of these clowns.

This is the way.

To many people get suckered in to the "if I don't vote for the Party (doesn't matter which party), I might as well throw my vote away!" and "Lesser of two evils" lies.

Thought experiment: In 2016, if Trump had done everything exactly the same but NOT run as a Republican, would he have won?

I can't say I disagree.

I bring this up not as a question of Trump but to highlight the fallacy of pretending we have a Constitutional Republic were it's virtually impossible to even run unless you are either a billionaire, spent several years punching your ticket with the Parties, or both.

My point being, the very idea of political parties is a detriment to a Constitutional Republic, IMO.

Cornyn is full on career politician RINO. Even gives Charlie Baker a run for his money.

3
Nimble_Sneak 3 points ago +3 / -0

Is anyone running next term to primary Corny? Please don't make me try it myself, I hate politicians

1
SlowTrafficKeepRight 1 point ago +1 / -0

Probably going to be awhile. If we're lucky he will hang it up in 2026. Otherwise he's pretty deeply entrenched. He won the 2020 primary with 76% of the vote.

America_No_1 2 points ago +2 / -0

Because states are bound by the constitution in the form of a contract. Why should some states be able to hold unconstitutional elections while others have to adhere to it? If states didn't have to abide by the constitution - what would prevent a state from inviting people from Poland over to vote in their elections and counting their votes? Seems pretty clear why states should have a say-so in other state's elections. Is this guy a retard?

I fucking hate Cronyn. Can’t stand that I was essentially forced into voting for him.
