It's like, I get it, Slavery Bad. That's a good thing to teach the kids. But know what else is bad? Generalization and falsehood. Maybe not as bad as SLAVERY, but this isn't an either-or situation.

If you tell the kids "Now kids, back in the day, everyone was doing Slavery, and almost nobody thought it was wrong. Then one day, someone suddenly realized "Wait a second, it would SUCK to be OWNED. This stuff must be wrong!" And that was good. And he went around convincing other people of the same thing. But before everyone agreed, a lot of complicated things happened and we wound up in a war where good people were on both sides, that's why we say it was "Brother against brother." Not just because some families were literally split, but because we were ALL BROTHERS before, and again after it. And eventually, the no-slavery side won," they're not gonna go "Nah, teacher, that's bullshit. Since it wasn't Angels against Demons, I'm gonna go and enslave kids out on the playground."

And Yes, the way our rights are defined, the Ultimate, Inalienable Rights reside with the INDIVIDUAL, and then their combined rights form the rights of their local governments, and those rights combine to form the rights of the states, and then the rights of the states combine to form the rights of the federal government. If the rights of the individual are curtailed, then the rights of the Local Governments do not EXIST, according to how we've structured our society, and thus therefore the rights of the states do not exist either.

So yeah, the Federal Government overreached to force the states to end slavery. But the State Governments overreached a SHIT TON MORE to deny the inalienable rights, endowed by GOD, according to our Constitution, to the individual. It's like if we had a building that was 100 stories tall, the foundation was crumbling, and the 50th floor was also crumbling. And the 50th floor is like "Hey, bring in heavy equipment to reinforce our floor! The 100th floor has no right to collapse on us!" No, dipshits, reinforce the FOUNDATION, or the WHOLE FUCKING THING will crumble. So we took some non-load-bearing walls out of the 50th floor, making it weaker, in a temporary measure to shore up the foundation to repair it. But then, after the construction on the foundation was finished, but things were still ugly and scarred, a Democrat Communist Actor from the 50th floor murdered the foreman, who had planned on then repairing, restoring, and improving the 50th floor and also removing some weight from the 100th, to make the entire building stronger, and more like the original blueprints had intended.

And that's where we are, with the true story of the Civil War. Democrats fucked EVERYTHING up, for EVERYONE, at EVERY STAGE OF THE MATTER.
