At first, I have been on the side of Rush Limbaugh, that I don’t think SCOTUS will have the stomach to weigh in on the election. But the more I think about it, they HAVE TO for their own relevance. Consider some of their recent rulings on religious freedoms and overreach of gubernatorial executive branches. They came down hard on Cuomo and Newsom - rightfully so! And how did those governor’s react? They basically said SCOTUS is irrelevant and they don’t know what they’re talking about. In other words, liberal governors are not so subtly trying to undermine the top judicial court in the country.
Back to the election, if they allow governors to subvert the law and procedure related to one of our most fundamental constitutional rights, than they are writing their own destiny to irrelevance. Any future ruling like the recent religious liberties cases that liberals don’t like will empower them to undermine the court. The only way to protect SCOTUS is for them to hear this case and weigh its merits against the constitution. If they do that it should result in a ruling in our favor. Such a ruling will reinforce their standing as the third branch of government - as defenders of the constitution. We have a President and Army of Pedes willing to stand up for it. Let’s hope for the sake of our country they do too!
Exactly. And that’s not a knock on them. A lot of what they do has to be prepared in advance of air time so everything runs smoothly and they verify their information. Rush is great. I grew up listening to Rush. I will say, though, I detect a hint of pessimism towards this outcome in what he says and how he says it. But really, even Hannity and Beck sound pessimistic too.
Regardless, let’s continue to pray SCOTUS does the right thing.
