Most people who tell you they were in the marines weren't in the marines, or any military branch for that matter.

I'm guessing went to basic and wanted out. Managed to convince them he was medically disabled. Probably spent most of his "career" on med hold or whatever the USMC calls it. Assuming he was enlisted, no idea what officers do. Edit- I am not a Marine nor have I served in any branch of the military just to be clear.
