NICE! So this would be why Trump asked him to argue the case?

103
nakedjay 103 points ago +103 / -0

Well, that, and he has argued in front of the SC successfully. On top of being a law clerk for the SC. He knows how the SC is ran and how to make successful arguments.

60
GlitchyMcGlitchface 60 points ago +60 / -0

Yeah he has a shit load of experience with the supreme court and I hope Trump rewards him with the next supreme court appointment in his second term.

31
Vivadiscordia 31 points ago +31 / -0

Didn’t he say he didn’t want to be on the Supreme Court?

44
GlitchyMcGlitchface 44 points ago +44 / -0

Possibly l, he has his eyes on 2024. But he would be awesome for the SC. He would never cuck out like Robert's

10
Wrexxis780 10 points ago +10 / -0

Well perfect. He runs 2024 and 2028, and during 2032, the MAGA president then puts him on SC.

8
Thegreatcanadianpede 8 points ago +8 / -0

What if he ran 2024 and then in 2028 term appoints himself?

7
The_Emperor 7 points ago +7 / -0

That would be...interesting.

3
Wrexxis780 3 points ago +3 / -0

As much as we would all love that, isn’t Ted cruz ineligible bc he was born in Canada? Am i missing something here?

Ted Cruz said in his newest book that the best judges aren't involved with making policy, which would disqualify him because he absolutely wants to make policy. He would only give up his Senate seat for a seat in the Oval Office.

8
ImperialxWarlord 8 points ago +8 / -0

No, can’t risk losing that seat.

22
MrGreggle 22 points ago +22 / -0

Yeah, I hate giving up Senate seats for appointments. Look how Jeff Sessions worked out. If we had that Senate seat Obamacare would be completely repealed.

5
ImperialxWarlord 5 points ago +5 / -0

Exactly. Unless we know we can risk it then we shouldn’t.

2
MW23232 2 points ago +2 / -0

Cruz said he doesn't want to be a SCOTUS Justice, because he likes being in the position he's in - in politics, in DC I guess - but "where the action is". He doesn't want to be cooped up in the Court, deciding cases, etc. forever. (Not a direct quote, but that's basically the reason and what he said.)

2
whippeat 2 points ago +2 / -0

Also, if he joined SCOTUS he would be expected to stop shitposting on Twitter. And we’d all miss it. It would kill him to keep those zingers to himself.

1
veteran299 1 point ago +1 / -0

or make him attorney general

11
MW23232 11 points ago +11 / -0

That isn't all. I have heard several times that he's an expert on Constitutional Law, and I just hope I didn't forget anything else of importance -- I had to go back and look this up because he's done so much involving the law in general.

He graduated from Princeton and then Harvard w/ a law degree. Was heavily involved in debate teams at Princeton and Harvard, won awards. He's Clerked for the Ct. of Appeals in TX, and SCOTUS, been in private practice, was Associate Deputy Attorney General in the U.S. Justice Department and as the director of policy planning at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. Was Solicitor General in TX, and during that time I believe, he drafted briefs on some famous cases (DC v. Heller for one) and argued them before SCOTUS, was a Law Professor, and then Jr. US Senator from TX.

Just thinking . . . and they actually ran Beto O'Rourke against all of that above?? And said Beto got the highest number of Votes in that race, (even tho he lost it was supposedly "close"???) of any Dem candidate ever?? At this point, I'd have to wonder about that. Anyway, Cruz is willing, able, and qualified many times over.

MW23232 1 point ago +1 / -0

Ted is brilliant, but maybe he wasn't allowed or inclined to misbehave, or be a fighter, or be disrespectful to anyone, ever. When he ran across POTUS and maybe he observed him for a while, maybe Cruz had a good sense of humor waiting to get out, and decided he didn't want people thinking of him as completely predictable anymore? So maybe he saw POTUS using humor and zingers, and decided to try it too because it wasn't causing him any problems, and turns out that is what the Left hates about POTUS. They never can anticipate what he's going to say or consequently do. And it works. I think the Left uses a lot of psychology against us, and it works, except with POTUS. Not sure how much Cruz has changed in the past 20 years and if he's changed to the way he is now due to POTUS, but just today he posted one of his "Zodiac" tweets. LOL.

The only thing tho that I think that will affect Cruz in 2024 is that he was not born in the US. There is nothing he can do about it and that rule has always been followed till the Obama fiasco happened and people started interpreting and reinterpreting the Constitution because he had an American mother, which has nothing to do with it. I don't think they'd allow Cruz tho, only a Lefty if it came up ... they'd make up a million excuses why his situation was ok.

2
Kongol626 2 points ago +2 / -0

Don't want to shit on Rudy but I'm glad Cruz is arguing the case. Cruz is still young minded and sharp, quick, and has SC experience.

2
namechangearoo 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes I thought he said he has never lost a case with scotus. Not sure if he’s had 2 or 2000.

17
Kano 17 points ago +17 / -0

Ted Cruz is very overqualified for this. He kind of is the guy to honestly go to.

He also graduated top of his class at Princeton and Harvard. Cruz is well qualified for this. Almost as he was born for this moment.

4
TheCandorist 4 points ago +4 / -0

That, he has never lost a supreme court case, he is a staunch supporter of Trump, he clerked for the supreme court, and his professors praised him throughout law school.

49
ScrewReddit 49 points ago +49 / -0

Another fun fact (I learned here): Ted Olson was the lead attorney for Bush in Bush v. Gore, but of course he had a legal team backing him up. Three of the lawyers on that team: Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barret.

1
CletusVanDam 1 point ago +1 / -0

Watch though...Kavanaugh is the swing vote in this, we know what Robert’s will do already.

4
whippeat 4 points ago +4 / -0

No way

Kavanaugh gets to decide whether Kamala becomes president

After the way she called him a mass rapist in front of his wife and kids?

Good luck with that

1
CletusVanDam 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah that’s my thought too, they were pretty awful to him during confirmation hearings

3
TheCandorist 3 points ago +3 / -0

I really can't imagine Kavanaugh being able to excuse himself into not doing the right thing here. The last time I recall him being a disappointment was a more ambiguous topic. This is plain speaking plain letter text.

2
CletusVanDam 2 points ago +2 / -0

Blackmail runs deeper than we will ever know, that’s the scary part

2
BurnerAcct42069 2 points ago +2 / -0

Ted Cruz:

He is the Nation's Leading Specialist on Constitutional Law and a fairly proficient Serial Killer.

24
Thehoytime 24 points ago +25 / -1

He is very intelligent and a well known for being an incredible debater. Which makes Trump destroying him in the primaries even more impressive.

6
Shadilay420 6 points ago +7 / -1

Debate as politicians practice is not what Trump does nor is it even suitable against his style. He'd be godawful to stick on a stand in court, but for the masses he's brilliant. Gotta beat him on his own terms, but few people in recent history could even attempt that.

3
deleted 3 points ago +3 / -0
4
TheCandorist 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well, because Trump doesn't debate like someone that knows how to debate. He was a wildcard on the stage every time. Nobody knew how to handle a debate with him because they were all in debate clubs and shit. They never had seen anything like it.

BUT..... It's total fucking bullshit that there is basically one super-star willing to do the work in all of the GOP. There should be 15 prominent names pushing for election security and remedy. It's total nonsense that it has to come down to basically just Ted Cruz.

The GOP hates Trump.

3

The GOP hates Trump.

This is why we make it CLEAR to the Republicans. We support The President, NOT the GOP. We just voted republican because that's where The Don was for elections.

3
TheCandorist 3 points ago +3 / -0

I figured they learned that in the midterms last time but maybe not. Most people Trump strongly backed won or nearly won. The people that were cold towards him were all smashed.

I am continually boggled by the idea that Obama accomplished anything that wasn't handed to him. Middle of the road student riding the coattails of privilege and hand outs.

If the MSM didn't have Obama's dick tonsil-deep, he never would have had the faux acclaim he's been given.
