I don't think these people are very mentally strong. I don't think they have a strong sense of identity or coherent sense of purpose. The armor is mostly psychological, giving them a ritualistic way of transforming themselves into warriors.
The objective purpose (from the viewpoint of reality) is that antifa members were placed on earth to get beaten, raped, pissed-on, and abused by the rest of us with no moral penalty attached.
