They say “democracy” but they really just mean “The Democrat Party”. If you change “democracy” with “Democrat Party” in their sentences, all their claims make more sense. They know if they just came on TV and said what they meant then they would look hyper-partisan. So they say “our democracy” instead. It makes them sound more noble.
I am grossly simplifying Plato here, but I like his boat analogy. Pretend you have 100 people that are all going on a long journey together on a ship. None of them have ever been on a ship before. Why do you think it's a good idea to let one of them run the ship, and more importantly, what qualifies a majority of the people to decide who that person should be?
It was also designed to be changeable, but only with a large majority in agreement. Lacking large agreement, nothing should be able to be done using the federal government.

And therein lies the problem. Too many on that side don’t utilize what little brain power they have.
