I don't mean violence but could these lawsuits end up dividing the country? It seems like it starting to be a strong divide of blue vs red states. Could this divide the country into 2?

Secession of states is a bit static thinking in my opinion. If it were a peaceful secession why would the rural red areas of those states be forced to go with the traditionally urban blue areas. Instead of states seceding, have the blue, urban cities secede. These conglomerations of cities can form a union of free, like minded city states, but they will be surrounded on all sides by United States.
I could see three countries.
West coast from Colorado into California
Northeast from VA and PA up thru New England
America everything else - basically all the red states

Most of those other two territories are also red. It's really, cities vs everybody else and we know that the city dwellers weren't turning out all over the country like they did in Milwaukee, Detroit, Philadelphi, Atlanta, Phoenix and Vegas. Not very many Americans will be fighting on the side of the Chinese if SHTF.
No. Idaho will never be absorbed by California. Neither will Utah, Montana, or Wyoming. It just wouldn't happen. There would be a nasty split along the California, Oregon, Washington north/south borders.
