The names:

Jorge Rodriguez: Former Minister of Communications for Venezuela

Khalil Majid Majzoub: Rodriguez Frontman

Gustavo Reyes-Zumeta: Programmer

Antonio Mugica: Smartmatic CEO

Time to research.

What I found on Khalil Majid Majzoub

http://web.archive.org/web/20180709102542/https://infodio.com/content/majed-khalil-majzoub

Further to my previous post about chavista thugs suddenly realising the importance of online reputation management -in a likely post Chavez era- I have been able to narrow down who may be behind the clumsy intimidation attempt aimed at me: meet Majed Khalil Majzoud, an 'internet savvy' chavista.

Mr Khalil Majzoud, born 23 April, 1970, Venezuelan ID 13526338, has had an interesting life.

In the same way as other Boligarchs -obscure individuals that have become extraordinarily wealthy in the shadows of Hugo Chavez's socialist revolution-

Majed Khalil Majzoud has gone from nothing -quite literally- to:

  • having an interest in Serfoca, a partner of Venezuela's CVG, appointed to develop an "industrial project (Orinoco Paper Mill Project) for the integral processing of [500,000 hectares of] Caribbean pine wood";

  • majority shareholder in a TV channel (Sun Channel TV);

  • CEO of a telecoms group (Hardwell Technologies), which was contracted to provide radar equipment to Venezuela's main airport (subcontracted to Raytheon); getting another $5 million -gone missing apparently- to provide a technology platform to Venezuela's Defence Ministry;

  • having a controlling interest in Pacific Rim Energy, a company that has been granted millions by the Chavez regime -and by Evo Morales- for various energy projects; having a controlling interest in Eveba, while stressing that influence of "mafias have decreased" in Venezuela...

Update: a trusted reader informs us that Majed Khalil is the bagman of General Francisco Rangel Gomez, former president of aluminium and mining giant Corporacion Venezolana de Guayana (CVG), current Governor of Bolivar state. Hence his deals with CVG. Majed Khalil is also a partner -and best man- of Lieutenant Antonio Josรฉ Morales Rodrรญguez (aka "el catre"), godson and aide-de-camp of Hugo Chavez and one of his most trusted men. Morales is currently director of the office of the Secretary of Venezuela's Presidency. Morales has recently been fingered by former Supreme Court Judge Eladio Aponte Aponte as one of the men who ordered him to free an army drug trafficker (Pedro Magino) caught with 2 tonnes of cocaine in Venezuela.

https://eju.tv/2012/12/venezuela-por-qu-el-gobierno-nunca-pierde/

Since Chรกvez's triumph, a Venezuelan Lebanese businessman named Khaled Majed, owner of the Hardwell Technologies company in Venezuela, with good military contacts, had executed several contracts with computer systems for the Miraflores situation room and equipping the intelligence services of the Armed Forces. Majed's brother is a well-known Islamic fundamentalist communication expert and was recommended by the military.

Initially, Majed looked like the only candidate to develop that contract. His main task would be to appear as a figurehead for the companies that would develop the project. Soon other local groups appeared aspiring to win the contract, including a very powerful one with deep connections within PDVSA. Shortly after this group appeared on the scene, rumors about certain unclear Majed businesses began to appear in the media. The big bosses soon decided that the Lebanese was inconvenient for that project. Given this, PDVSA's informatics recommended a company that could carry out the project.

A trusted PDVSA official recommended creating a company with young, inexperienced engineers who were easy to manage. They, without knowing it, would do the fronting as a company, while the Cubans of the G2 elaborated the source code containing the secret details of the system to be installed. The rest was carpentry open to the public that would be in the hands of the supplier companies to be subcontracted. PDVSA's IT management recommended a group of qualified engineers they had known from university.

Something more pedestrian was hidden behind these objectives: Smartmatic was created specifically to tender the system that was to replace INDRA's. Its initial owners were four young Venezuelan engineers recently graduated and three Creole investors linked to Chavismo. The latter formed a powerful bud in PDVSA whose name is kept in the strictest secret. The engineers were Antonio Mugica, Adolfo Anzola, Eduardo Correia and Roger Piรฑate. They all come from upper-middle-class families who met at Colegio Emil Friedman in Los Campitos. All of them were excellent students who deserved scholarships to attend college.

With all these ties to energy companies, I wouldn't be surprised if they are linked to any of these Ukrainians in this thread of mine I did yesterday tying Dominion to Ukraine.

Love Lou, good guy. Won't support his company.

At the end of the day he has to do what's best for him and for his family, but I refuse to support those he works for. He had a podcast or another way to listen to him, I would put him in the rotation.
