Correct me if I am wrong, but they didn't point guns at a group of racial injustice protesters on a private street near their home. They were armed and stood their ground while a mob forced its way onto their property and surrounded their residence.

Yes but they're white and white people aren't allowed to do that in America now because we decided it was more important that people don't think we're racists.

After breaking down their iron front gate. As far as I’m concerned they would have been justified in shooting the intruders who made it adamantly clear they were prepared for violence and to burn their house down.

That's.... not how firearms and firearm lookalikes are viewed in the eyes of the law. If I were attacked by a super soaker diguised as a rifle and it actually looked like a rifle, I have every right to shoot that person.
