This may be worse. It was a tragedy in Alexandria but the vast majority of works burned were copies and there were many other copies in Roman libraries.

Many of these videos have no original copies around

24
atomchurch 24 points ago +24 / -0

It is worse then Alexandria.. youtube does this sensoring, and facebook gets sued..

I can only hope that we win this lawsuit, and use its precedent to shut down google.

Its like suing the post office because the library got burned down.

Codreanu 19 points ago +19 / -0

Yeah. Turns out Egyptian papyri and Mesopotamian clay tablets will outlive our entire digitalized civilization. Information has never been so widely available yet so fragile and volatile.

7
Doth 7 points ago +7 / -0

Especially videos posted by people who are now dead that WERE still up.

2
SentryS 2 points ago +2 / -0

You were there? How do you know that???

3
kanabiis 3 points ago +3 / -0

Because historians who have spent their lifetimes studying the great libraries of Rome have been able to piece together a pretty good idea of the contents of the library of Alexandria by studying the catalogs of the Roman Libraries that survived.

The Romans had a very sophisticated library system and had records of all their libraries so they could duplicate works from library to library to insure that all citizens had access to the knowledge.

Furthermore there is plenty of dispute on what was actually housed at Alexandria because it was not a main branch of the libraries and much of its reported contents is likely due to the fact that the retelling of the story over the centuries inflated the significance of the library and its contents.

Was the burning a tragedy, absolutely from a historical standpoint, but the copying of works was common and many of the tomes thought lost in the fire have been found over the years in other locations all over the world, namely in Roman and Greek archives hidden away found hundreds of years later.

What I said is not controversial and can easily be researched by anyone.

2
SentryS 2 points ago +2 / -0

The point I'm making is that, considering our current situation of information suppression and book burning, It is plausible that history was rewritten a few times and those informations contained previously can never be confirmed as accurate.

3
kanabiis 3 points ago +3 / -0

Perhaps. History is always suspect since it is always written by the winners as the old saying goes.

Consider however, especially regarding the history of the Library Of Alexandria, we have been feed by a load of propaganda from 'Egyptologists', an entire 'science' that is founded deeply in Egyptian nationalism and not actual archeological science whos entire existence only serves to promote Egyptian superiority in the historical record.

It is only those individuals, who are more akin to religious cultists then actual scientists, who have promoted the 'lost works' theory, claiming the loss of supposed Egyptian texts that do not seem to be recorded any where else by Roman documents.

We know from actual archeological evidence that the Romans had a obsession with duplicating texts and works, it was Roman law that required any ship or caravan arriving in a city that housed a great library had to turn in any books or scrolls in their possession to the curators of the library for duplication. This duplication edict lasted for hundreds of years and there are massive catalogs of the works that were copied during those centuries.

Even ancient history falls victim to propaganda, the myth of a great loss of intellectual history by the burning Alexandria was promoted by the Medieval Catholic Church in order to overlook their sins during the dark ages when promotion of the hard sciences was blasphemy and punishable by death.

No...perhaps another...let me read this... 'Look, it's complicated...' No! This can't be right! Where are the masterpieces!? This one, surely! 'The Benefits of Bestiality by Vaushuvius'? No! NO! Odd, there's no mention of any payment being required...

Yeah if the Library at Alexandria was filled with unboxing videos, Minecraft videos, videos of people eating, and videos of people popping zits, then yes it's exactly the same.

YouTube about to morph into a Chicom & ASMR only platform. Rumble all the way

If we wanted to watch that shit we would be watching cable, not Youtube.

I only had one video make it through processing and get over 5 views. On Bitchute all my videos get views.

Rumble isn't quite there yet.

39
Opticsplanet 39 points ago +39 / -0

Fuck em. Bitchute is where it’s at...for now. If things go our way there won’t be a Google, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube in several years. They’ve become too much of a threat to the American way of life and they need to be taken down or completely taken over. Boycott anyone who takes away our freedom of speech.

17
FondueFerret 17 points ago +17 / -0

I think we should use more than one platform. No one platform can be given a monopoly, that's too much power and power corrupts...do you think Bitchute / Rumble could go down that route? What can we do to prevent content hosting sites and forums from censoring us and stealing our data?

2
fapoo 2 points ago +2 / -0

maybe one will come out top who knows but yes, bitchute and rumble have the biggest opportunities here. I've used them both, I use rumble more, seem to be the bigger names from YT on there.

but both have got far to go in terms of functionality and user interface. Honestly though, they just really need to copy as close they can to youtube for now, and change later on in the future.

All people want is YT without censorship.

2
flashersenpai 2 points ago +2 / -0

And they just made their funding goals this month too!

20
istrucktheboard 20 points ago +20 / -0

Along with the Mongol horde throwing the contents of the library of Baghdad into the Euphrates, the burning of the library of Alexandria was one of the greatest losses mankind has ever suffered.

The ease with which our tech barons can vanish information is stupefying. It can also be done with very few even noticing.

11
Doth 11 points ago +11 / -0

Even more pernicious is that they can MODIFY it. Change records, change history, change meanings of words, vanish inconvenient truths and information.

No one can be trusted with that capability. NO ONE.

6
BigIronBigIron 6 points ago +6 / -0

And they know what you know.

If you have knowledge they want suppressed, they just target you individually.

That doctor who spoke against the Covid bullshit was just found dead in her home by her 9-year-old son.

It's all got to end. We've got to stop being nice, playing nice, and just use satellite weapons against every bad actor. A reign of terror that will not be forgotten for 2000 years.

Make evil people fear punishment again!

Put me in, coach. I'll throw the switch! Just say it was my fault.

Have people heard of the competition? It is like complaining about Walmart and wanting them to do what Home Depot does. I know my point will probably be unpopular, but seriously people need to learn what regulatory capture means. All of these giant corporations will only be happy when government steps in a regulates their competition out of existence.

We need to get content creators and normies to start uploading to more than just YouTube. Sadly all the content is on YouTube and the only thing migrating away from YouTube seems to be political content.

If you want to know what specifically try searching for "rumble noises LG front loader", "install Linux", "build a shed", and "best house insulation" on the alt websites.

If we can't get non-political stuff on other platforms than they will just become a giant echo chamber of politics that normies avoid.

Youtube knows it's over for them. They will lose Section 230 protections, they won't be able to censor shit, or they will censor, get sued and be shut down. Google needs to be broken up, as they will with Facebook.

Anything connected to China needs to be confiscated and liquidated for money. China sanctioned to 1000% tariffs, let them starve, halt all food shipments. We don't NEED anything from China that we didn't use to make here and we can easily make again, but way better.

We entered the great age of digital book burning perpetuated by communists all across the world with power.

Btw, both of my 9gag accounts were permanently shadowbanned. Basically for too much wrong-think over the years. I am done with them, but I was on my way out anyway. Nobody can read my comments any more. I looked back on my older account which I haven't touched for a year at least, still shadowbanned and throttled from commenting even.

Telling how the people on 9gag can't get enough of boot licking over Covid fascism, or mockingly portraying myself as one of them might have been the final trigger. I provided plenty of arguments and even evidence. They barely bothered to.

Well the library of Alexander contained all knowledge of the earth written on priceless parchement and scrolls that were passed down over generations.

Youtube is more like the cesspit that has a few gems floating in it. Most people don't care that they'll get dragged along with the sludge.

Ive been using videohunter to download yt videos, and savetweetvid.com to save twitter videos to dropbox on my phone.

Videohunter is a paid computer program but it works great, use it to archive stuff before it gets memoryholed and in case of a prolonged internet outage you can still have some how to instructional vids.
