Three things that come to mind:
1: Chinese "Training" in Canada with a PM we know sold out to Chicom.
2: We obviously have some issues in South America which Venezuela seems to be apart of the CCP.
3: News that we have brought back our Naval fleets and Overseas troops to protect America.
One thought is... why wouldn't China just Nuke us....

No, neither country can really invade and hold the other, though each needs to have a defense force that would prevent an invasion. It's all about psy-ops and soft influence.
I would prefer an armed invasion compared to what they have already done. That war we would win in a day.

This has been war gamed a lot. suggested reading the war planners series by Andrew Watts And the falling empires series by James Rosone--which is very interesting because the first book is entitled "rigged" and it's about a rigged election using post office employees.
