As a Californian and specifically, a Los Angeleno, there's an awful lot of "below the line" middle classers that are employed by Hollywood. A tiny fraction is the stupid liberal elite. The majority of the crowd are people who are hopping from show to show, trying to make ends meet.
This also includes the stores and restaurants they buy food from, the prop houses they rent from, the lumber yards, vehicle rentals, the locations they pay for, the permits they pay for, etc. An awful lot of middle-class people work hard to survive in the industry.
California needs Hollywood tax dollars to keep afloat while they're starving out the middle class.
