When it comes to the high ranking ones, I don't even think they believe in anything at all, be it capitalism or socialism or what have you. Their only ideology, ultimately, is power for its own sake. O'Brien's words from 1984 come to mind.

Your description is apt. They believe the various economic systems are a means to an end. The globalists love unbridled or unrestricted capitalism because it would get them communism and communism would confer to global goals over National goals as time goes on. the globalists see Nations such as China, Russia, and the USA as useful to their cause. conservatives hate communism but we haven't created a strong counter to globalism. if we can stop globalism, then we can save the western world.
