Ha. Reminds me of a book or story (Kurt Vonnegut, I think) we read in high school, where the “pretty” people were given physical handicaps to level everyone. Back in the days where schools would teach you the authoritarianism of forced equality, although I wonder if the teachers even knew that was the point of the story.
Another theory is they were implemented to allow the essential workers to be on a level playing field with the customers; it wasn’t fair to the people that need to work in the grocery stores etc. and wear masks all day, while thousands of people are milling in and out of the store every day
If that theory holds true then it works. Trader Joes employees are MUCH more catty and authoritarian in this environment I noticed. When they bitch at me ab bag protocol infrequently, I’ll ask them a simple question requiring them to use minimal critical thinking skills and their NPC brains short-circuit.

Then, one day, one of those "pretty girls" takes off her mask, and I never left home again.
I hate how wearing a mask makes it harder to hit on women, not only can i not see their face but they cant see mine either, and I’m actually a very attractive guy
I live in Los Angeles. Basically a mask is required everywhere that has the balls to even open right now. Would rather not start a scene either so I just wear it when I’m in public shopping or whatever.
