No one knows. Ammo manufactures are saying they are back ordered for like a year. So it will probably suck for another year if no other speed bumps come up. My guess is summer 2022 things will be back to steady supply if things calm down.

People saw the lawlessness that went on all summer and decided to arm up. People also saw the possibility of a Biden Admin, which had made plain its desire to come after the 2nd Amendment, so people armed up.
I see Trump's re-election as an eventual easing on the demand of firearms and ammo. I think it will take a while for it to settle down, there's still a lot of pent-up demand in general and a lot of folks who neglected to stack "cheap and deep" will be buying ensure that doesn't happen to them again.
Why: current gun owners tend to be right wing, they see what the left is doing and they're stockpiling more than usual. Also lots of new gun owners from the entire political spectrum. Add in the nonstop riots, supply chains stressed because of the pandemic, and the fact that this happens every election year and you get this.
2021: still going to be a shitshow. I don't expect to pay $.30/rd for 5.56 again until 2023, assuming Trump stays in office. There's a huge manufacturing deficit right now, imports are cut, people buying in record numbers. It's going to take time for the supply chain to work itself out and people won't stop buying until they think they have enough, which will probably be double what they had before 2020.
Happens every election cycle honestly, but more intense this time because there were liberals buying guns too when they saw the riots.

The Second Amendment exists to protect the First Amendment and to keep our governments in fear of US the people so they stay in line and work FOR US. The tyrannical government overreach in many states with mask mandates/lockdowns has made a lot of people rightly concerned about the government. Plus, the rioting and looting in cities makes many Americans rightly concerned about protecting themselves, their homes, and their businesses.
In addition, Biden has been very open about implementing federal gun laws and restrictions and has even proposed an insane ammunition tax. So it's sort of a get them while you can just in case the worst happens sort of deal.
I honestly don't see it slowing down much even when Trump is reelected because Americans have woken up and will not let our country be stolen now or ever.
