They have been stealing California so long and so dramatically, that they have programmed the entire country to automaticly believe that Cali is Blue. I would bet the media in all these years have been pushing outrageous leftist news and surprising normalcy in an attempt to paint California as Blue... it worked, and we never questioned it.
