It rather puts who will be president into the hands of the republican run state legislatures, whom put it into the power of the republicans.
The republicans are forced to decide between electing Trump and pissing off the left or electing Biden and pissing off the right. Since they should be used to option A, they are 95% likely to choose option A, except for a few traitors. then shit goes down.
