I think both have PDFs online. Another massive tome worth reading: John Taylor Gatto's The Underground History of American Education. It's maybe the most important book I've ever read. Gatto was NYC teacher of the year 3x and resigned on the op ed page of the NYT because he said he can longer do damage to children. Guy was legit.
