I think Trump put too much faith in the deep state to save him
I think Trump was surrounded by snakes and he had no one in government to help him. He relied on the heritage foundation and the federalist society to pick his supreme court picks, how would he know otherwise?
Most of his other picks were probably suggested by deep state. Who else could he even turn to? Once Wray was confirmed by a vast majority of the senate we all knew there was 0 chance of justice there. We had hopes of Barr, but even early on people pointed out his shittyness in the past.
So even if Trump wanted to appoint guiliani as DOJ, he would have never been confirmed.
