Abbott screwed us on the convention which is the largest gathering of Republicans in the country— larger than the national convention. He managed to get it canceled at the last minute through some magical Covid bullshit which none of us feared. That cancellation cascaded across the country into the current state of universal shutdown. It started with Abbott. A large party of happy, motivated grass roots republicans would have been a touch point for resisting shutdowns. To this day, Abbott refuses to relinquish his emergency powers and allows cities to shutdown restaurants and bars. Ken Paxton has dutifully remained at Abbott’s side throughout. We also have Chinese airfields near USAF bases that can traffick drugs and people across the southern border. I don’t trust Ken. Haven’t since summer. Haven’t said anything about it so far because I didn’t want to doom on you all.
