The weird smells are the paper mills in east texas. I'm 30 minutes from the woodlands great place to live.
I live near DFW airport, about halfway between Dallas and Ft. Worth. There are some nice areas around the metroplex to settle down but it's becoming an overcrowded sprawl in my opinion. I'd actually like to move further away from DFW to somewherewhere less populated.
I agree... so many places to snipe from and then blend into the pine trees. I like to think of as my own personal Vietnam.
I'm actually planning a Jan fishing trip to the half-decent beaches (and bays) area. If it is 4th box time, I may stay in TX and move my stuff there.

Barely room to turn around in the piddlin front yard & when you do if you’ve been drinkin you might get stuck in the ¾ acre 250,000-gallon water puddle in the middle of the damn front yard.
Crowded.. Wide open spaces ain’t so wide anymore..
When we moved here we thought the neighbors were great , quiet, hardly ever saw them.. May hap had something to do with there only being four houses within 2 square miles..
But lately I’ve noticed there seems to be more of them around..
It’s winter now, the leaves are falling off the trees and opening up the sight lines a bit.. This morning I noticed with the trees thinned out you can see a neighbors house from here now..
Strange folks from California, Colorado etc.. even brought a Starbucks to the area… you know a cup ‘o that brown pisswater costs as much as a bag of feed!

Deer always eating your plants, Hogs keep tripping your traps, Hawks always flying around throwing shadows on the pages of a book your fixin ta read, rabbits & squirrels running through the yard stirring the dogs up..
The other day the LeonBerger got so wrapped up chasing a squirrel he ran under the 150 lb. BBQ smoker and damn near carried it across the yard on his back.. lucky he didn’t ruin the steaks.. Damn Dogs..
Our politicians even getting all uppity, some would say even civilized and gentrified even..
