I'm gonna get downvoted but that's ok. There are more cases coming to court. Throwing this case out was part of the plan. They need to be shown to be what they are, IMPARTIAL JUDGES. They will come through when the time is right.

The justices voted along procedural lines, NOT on the substance of the case.
The substance can be re-admitted to SCOTUS later. Hell, even Alito and Thomas' response had hints of how to come back at them with the good stuff.
Those three voted for proper procedure, if/when they vote in support later, they can easily tell everyone "Hey, this is what is right and proper based upon the rules" and anyone who disagrees will get pointed to THIS rejection as proof that they can and should GTFO.
But part of what could happen in the realm of possibilities. Woulda been nice for them to take the case, but not required?

My only thought about the "plan" is that Trump intended this to go to military courts to begin with. IDK. My assumption is that the SCOTUS didn't want to deal with the Texas case because it would open the door for states to sue other states in every presidential race.
I agree with you. And the remedy would have been to throw it back to the states to correct the fraud. Supreme Court is the wrong place to decide election outcomes. Taking this case and hearing arguments would have wasted time.
There are still other lawsuits. I don't understand the law but they should be able to hear more cases. The evidence has to be clear cut and presented with no mistake. Keep the faith.

Gonna get down voted but I'm gonna say it because I'm exhausted of this silliness. Wait and see how they handle the remaining cases. Then get angry. The Texas case was tossed because it could open pandoras box for future elections (assuming we save the damn Republic and continue to have them) that states can throw lawsuits at other states whenever their elections go in a direction state A doesn't like. Making Trump the main plaintiff instead of co-plaintiff changes the nature of the case and that's exactly what Trump has done now. I'm not saying they're definitely not snakes, I'm saying it's too early to throw stones. This post may age very poorly. Let's wait and see. They didn't rule against Trump, or Texas. They simply tossed the case. The former would've been far more damaging than the latter. If they end up doing that, THEN they're snakes.
