He has been completely, totally vindicated.

You know what one of the big turning points of that entire thing was? McCarthy had Roy Cohn as his lawyer. Behind the scenes, Cohn had agreed with Welch not to bring up the fact that a young guy working for Welch's law firm was a devoted member of the communist party.

So during the hearings, McCarthy brings it up. And that was apparently BEYOND THE PALE, "I expected better from you Mr. McCarthy." And the media went into hyperdrive about how terrible of a person McCarthy was for "breaking" an agreement that Cohn and Welch had made.

Mind you, this was a hearing about COMMUNISTS in positions of power in the United States. And McCarthy brought up a COMMUNIST in a position of power in the United States. They teach that today like it's just THE example of how evil McCarthy was.

We're in peak clown world today, but this shit started a long time ago.

Fascinating. You know who happened to represent Trump during the worst interference he experienced from the NY mob? Cohn.

Roy Cohn was also Trump's lawyer and Roy became loyal to him because Trump was the only client to not fire him when he was outed as a gay man.

Trusting Cohn was an obvious mistake.

He was much more right than is generally acknowledged, but I wouldn't go that far. E.g. I don't think General George Marshall was a commie. I recommend [EDIT] Blacklisted By History by M. Stanton Evans to anyone interested in the story.

I recommend Blacklisted By History by M. Stanton Evans to anyone interested in the story.

I can also recommend Joseph McCarthy: Reexamining the Life and Legacy of America's Most Hated Senator by Arthur Herman.
