Sorta. Historians write history. Generals tend to lie to make themselves look good. After WWII with Hitler being dead and all, this gave German generals an especially good opportunity to lie. And Russian is really hard to translate into English, plus their military stuff is virtually impossible to translate. And the Soviets haven't translated much of anything for us.

If you want to just while away the time, one good guy searching WWII ground war facts I've found is Tik on youtube. He's good because he explores sources, and lays out his reasoning for agreeing with any source, or not.
